Normally these have been as simple as copy and pasting some code, inputting your own spreadsheet, or other IDs, playing with some settings, and hitting run. You\u2019ll have noticed that when you do this, Google will normally ask you to go through a process to authorise the script to have certain permissions. It looks something like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/TRG4QFI-7vIa3_cxbk6LcZA90QAUN5PDUU4Vb5kbDTmqGxBvH1llbSCQeJwRN09Sa6g9P_CN6fEuYYN5yc_B0wp9KwMFdQ-0qAUHaCoyaFflCaczlnDz1Or0i1kUpzainYtHK9BL\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This relatively simple method of authorising scripts to make given changes is made possible by Google providing \u201cServices\u201d to do most of the things that we have ever wanted to do in our blogposts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently we have started writing some scripts to share that interact with Search Ads 360. A service isn\u2019t available to do this, and as such there is a bit more work to do than normal before you\u2019re able to click run and have it all work. Hopefully this document should serve as a fairly easy to follow step by step guide for how to do this.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, without further ado, here is the \u201cBrainlabs Guide to Google Cloud Console\u201d. We use the Search Ads 360 API in this example, but the process is valid for other services also, be they advertising based such as Google Analytics, or otherwise, like using Google Maps data.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 1<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Go to the Google Cloud Console at <a href=\"https:\/\/console.cloud.google.com\/\">https:\/\/console.cloud.google.com\/<\/a>. Navigate through any initial setup steps that it asks you to go through.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 2<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Click \u201cSelect a Project\u201d at the top of the page and then \u201cNew Project\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/QDWilOLscXwN92IAaCGmRUjwlqtGbX4-MFISL0MZ96S1-y7RHQflgQlq2dw4-j04rLk7L5nUKMk_sHvUTPKeY2kyiE9ugiuCLrGg2vUiOCkESAOEH-YhlLk4udBag9qgtcM9HDsQ\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 3<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Give the project a name corresponding to what the script does, and click create. This will take you to that project\u2019s dashboard.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 4<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Click \u201cExplore and enable APIs\u201d and click \u201cEnable APIs and services\u201d. Next, search for \u201csearch ads 360 api\u201d and click on it, and finally click \u201cEnable\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/h34vr6E-sguO6PNP38B5KTeZOaMWAncTEe1AfzKjn6uJBTViO_m_e42RunnIyiFpPg9jvtklEAbXaif1yH5hE9KEvBOIZRYL6rNl5ypYN9owj0vl0zVX80ahS9n-Q4z3SRUspyfV\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/YsXOzXHfNnTI9q2zk79oKYN75jZC1W2Eaetb18I71skOT5OWM67N3tuhT0JJpw1ZsPrG8ICzJq07uWGsporUVRJMq7gDITQ218nJ83Z7GNQGIqIZ8zjY2ZNFri75aYdpcI3uQaTS\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 5<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You should now see a page similar to this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/dJtIGDZVcaAfPHDSxI_pneXlnhg1E2KmJwh9oxXYQCpRu921O11-_0L2XOTe5ROabMtuKDIxYdqZZNJ_2U1PBTariSO5ZfKo2wX6DiXPrr42hV2BilsCsQerMxGoRTwKKVcbb5NG\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Click where it says \u201cCredentials\u201d on the left hand side column, and then click \u201cConfigure Consent Screen\u201d. This should give you a page like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/v1n48gNxGFkZEQOBmxva3lkBY1mxeFN5jsh-hCDXwuaBUyHSd5MsHOnq_cSkGFIWlSP2FSbhZim0p0czi9LL6YxoT5Yf-17JN_ieLSLERCV43MlNYWp4uRJREHW5YeSHz76mgBqB\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You only need to fill in the application name. Then click save.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 6<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now click \u201cCreate Credentials\u201d on the page that comes up, and pick \u201cOAuth Client ID\u201d. Choose \u201cOther\u201d as the application type, and click \u201cCreate\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 7<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A popup detailing some things about your \u201cToken\u201d will appear. Feel free to ignore that, click okay, and navigate back home by clicking \u201cGoogle Cloud Platform\u201d at the top.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 8<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Make a note of the product number highlighted here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/q7K8_Ixt17HVi-3UnlAfBTuDH6DFX2f6QAy5RLdNQsgujUasiUX4ZMxCAsHs0N9LBEdkk7U9He0DN2um2VORXzp_YZWDGCNJCLP29_hXOzORfzBmG-Rta2gfOa_tBjLP_fvxh5HZ\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 9<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You will then use this number to pair your project to this set of permissions that you have created. Say that you are in your script on a Google Sheet, this can be done by clicking \u201cResources\u201d and then \u201cCloud Platform project&#8230; \u201d like here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/FDaFHVUygX-Qzo92RsMgg7N1ebGxv4VgMTiELSnLLrPmVAOsyqMdmtMMH1gr8xiDSRImq_XugyQH0yLHt-QsRDj5PpOajCE8Bit131brGLxMG3LPwRxDyTDJVONpJr2rUkVzpRwF\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 10<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, enter your project number from step 8 into this box:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/eJ-8bZPL_tPd-mDYihUAmUKLM_J4Djj8luQnrQLMIpFj3JxwkDIS_LvNGEtxPAyeVkO-S0hZ1DXdw-AZclkbbJt4gb4MuRVK7x4wnJkGMmdMHN3p6HkzYljPVEm0f5xdLjosBdQq\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Click \u201cSet Project\u201d, click \u201cConfirm\u201d, and now we\u2019re done, and in a position to worry about the script itself.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Caveats&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Be aware that the Google account used to set up the project in the cloud console should be the same account used to create the script, else the script won\u2019t be able to find the project.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At Brainlabs we have been publishing and sharing our scripts for a long time now.
